I’m a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Philosophy at Bar-Ilan University. I have broad interests, including epistemology, ethics, philosophy of science and philosophy of religion.

I wrote several articles and a book about the idea that there are facts that call for explanation. If you’re interested in hearing more about my book, here’s a podcast episode for you.

I believe philosophy can help us think clearly about questions that matter to us. I therefore teach and write about climate change ethics, and engage with ideas I used to believe, in the days in which I was religious and training to be a rabbi. Following the October 7th massacre and the Israel-Hamas war that evolved, I created with colleagues a podcast of philosophy lectures for this horrific time of war.

Due to the climate impacts of traveling, I now try to keep traveling to a minimum. However, I’m more than happy to meet colleagues around the globe or present my work using video conferencing apps. Contact me at: dan.baras@biu.ac.il
